Our natural instinct is to live by sight (not by faith) which, if we're honest, can only leave us fearful of a Holy God because we know we could never earn or deserve His mercy. But when we follow Jesus in faith (resting in His promise that "it is finished"), He leads us out of fear and into freedom, which is the only sure path to the joy we were made for.
