Leadership

Requiem Elders

Vince Bissey

Lead Pastor

Vince served as the Pastor of Discipleship & Development at August Gate Church (Belleville, IL) from 2017-2021 when he was sent by August Gate to plant Requiem Church in Alton. Vince and Cristen have been married since 2002 and they have four children: Alec, Isaiah, Jara, and Luke.
Requiem believes that, under God, each local church should be led by a team of Pastors (also called Elders and Overseers in Scripture). According to the Bible, pastors must be:
1. Qualified (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9);
2. Gifted (Ephesians 4:11-14; 1 Peter 4:10-11);
3. Spirit-Appointed (Acts 20:28);
4. Men (1 Timothy 2:12-15; 1 Timothy 3:1; 1 Corinthians 14:33-35).

Until God raises up a team of Elders from within Requiem, the following men serve with Pastor Vince to lead Requiem Church.

Noah Oldham

Requiem Founding Elder

Noah is the Lead Pastor of August Gate Church in Belleville, IL and the Senior Director of Deploy with Send Network.

Belafae Johnson

Belafae is the Lead Pastor of Purposed Church in Mascoutah, IL.

Michael Byrd

Requiem Founding Elder

Michael is the Lead Pastor of Faith Community Bible Church in St. Louis, MO.

Partnership

August Gate is Requiem's sending church. The Bissey family has been part of August Gate since December 2012 and Pastor Vince served as the
Pastor of Discipleship & Development there from 2017-2021.  For both the Bisseys and August Gate, planting Requiem Church is the next step in pursuing the vision of August Gate to saturate the St. Louis region with gospel-centered, missional churches.
Send Network believes that brokenness is pervasive in every community across North America and that this brokenness is only healed through the hope of the gospel. As part of Send Network, church planting is our strategy to spread the gospel, respond to brokenness and to bring about restorative healing — spiritually, emotionally, economically and socially.
