Hosea 9:1-17

It's a familiar cycle: (1) we suffer; (2) we try to fix it; & (3) when we realize we can't, we escape into whatever we believe will numb the pain. And while there's nothing wrong with the comforts God promises, what Hosea wants us to understand is that when we're willing to compromise in order to find comfort, then what we think will lead to joy will actually lead us into judgment instead.
